Wow! Veronica or someone who looks alot like her is back!
I have a paid version of family tree maker, it integrates very well with
ancestry.com. Its easy to use, has expandability, was cheap! Would
recommend it hands down
Great video young lady..it’s really nice to see a young person take up an
interest in thier family history..wish I had done that when I your age..I
waited until it was too late to do serious research on my own kin…when my
grandmother was still alive…she remembered a lot of family history..but
never wrote it down on paper guess she’d figured no one would be
interested..anyways..keep up the good work!
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE genealogy, but you have to be the prettiest
genealogist I have ever met… hands down. Anyway, I also used to be into
genealogy when I was a teenager, and still am. Have researched all the way
to ancient Egypt. Genealogy DOES break down racial bias, trust me.
Greetings from Mexico!
I can’t tell you how important it is, whether it’s from your grands & great
grands or aunts/uncles, great aunts/uncles, cousins, etc. I have a cousin
in his 70’s & I will never forget him saying, “If I could only ask my
Granddaddy one question, it would be, ‘Who were your grandparents?'” That
simple question would have allowed him to find a missing link. Bad
ancestors round out human families. Everyone has black sheep so don’t avoid
researching those. They turn out to be the most interesting.
I use a lateral file rather than a regular file cabinet – some docs like
wills and deeds are often legal-size and won’t fit in regular files w/o
folding. I have enough of them that it would substantially add to the
thickness of my files.
Thank you! Keep checking back become I am hoping to make another video in
the next week or two that shows how I’ve updated my organization system.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
dude!! I’m 16, and I am too lol.
Thanks this has given me some ideas on how to organize all my family stuff
hi, this is superb stuff. Great to see how other people do their filing
systems – there’s always ways to improve it, so thanks for the tips 🙂
@OpeningDoors2ThePast I love genealogy and i’m 17 😉
Nice job organizing your files. I use 4 binders for each of my grandparnets
though i worry about losing all the files to a house fire so I place my
books and pictures in a safe for future reference. I liked your idea of
having seperate folders for those individuals who have a lot of information
tied to them. Great job I might incorporate that idea into my binders. And
love the color codes too. AlsoIsave files to disks for the age of
computers. 🙂
Great job on this video! You and I actually use very similar systems in
terms of color coding — Blue is my paternal grandfathers family; Maroon is
my paternal grandmother; Green is my maternal grandfather and orange is my
maternal grandmother. Where do you live? I only ask because you and I are
about the same age (I think; I’m 26) and it’s nice to get in touch with
people who are around my age and seriously interested in genealogy. Look
forward to hearing from you!
Totally agree..she’s a lot better organized than I am.
Very impressive! Thank you for sharing this and teaching us how to do this.
I think I will follow your format since (like you) other styles have not
worked well for me. Look forward to seeing your other videos. Great job!
Hey, i love your videos and they are very helpful. I was having some
trouble organizing all of my genealogy. I was having problems organizing
just like you do. Could you help? Thanks
